Jacob was born and raised in Ohio. He is your real working cowboy. He is from a working class family who took pride in their self sustaining skills, like hunting, farming, and harvesting every fall. Jake Wade is an educated farrier; he attended Kentucky Horse Shoeing School, where he learned to forge shoes from bars, and can shoe just about any hoof you put in front of him. He has started countless numbers of colts, has started horses in most disciplines, has trained green horses, and has a passion for pasture roping and doctoring cattle. Do you make saddles?

A: As of 2018, we are now partnering with a local saddle maker, and US Veteran, Matt Helm of DH Tack. Matt is here to help us fill custom saddle orders. Saddles have an average production time of 8-10 weeks, give or take a little time depending on the fine detail requests. Please contact us to place your custom order which includes a 5 year tree warranty!

  • Do you handmake everything you sell?

Do you handmake everything you sell?

A: We sure do! Everything on our website is completely handmade, except for the metal hardware. We cut all our straps and patterns by hand, hand stitch with an awl, buckstitch, carve, stamp, burnish, dye, acrylic finish, all by hand! At Badlands Cowboy Tack Co., we stand for quality and always pay close attention to detail on our handmade products.

Do you really do everything yourself?

A: We have a team of folks who help us with different projects. We partner with Ella, who does all our Beadwork by hand, and we partner with Matt of Rocking DH Tack, who makes custom saddles for our saddle orders.

  • Do you do anything other than Badlands?

  • How long will it take to get my custom order?

How long will it take to get my custom order?

A: depending on your order size, most small projects can take between four and six weeks. We never rush through our custom orders, and always complete them in the order that we receive them.

  • Will it take longer to receive custom Hookin' Halters®?

Will it take longer to receive custom Hookin' Halters®?

A: We do our best to make sure our sales reps have plenty of colors on hand, but sometimes this is not the case. Our sales reps place bulk orders on the first of every month. If you pick from colors that they already have on hand, they can often ship them out within just a few days, instead of waiting for custom orders to arrive which could take a few weeks.
